Zas uses Google sign-in as its only authentication method. Your encryption keys are derived from your sign-in through OPRF (Oblivious Pseudo-Random Function). There is no password to remember and no recovery phrase to store.
How to sign in
Open zas.web
Go to zas.web and tap Sign in with Google. Choose your Google account
Select the Google account you want to use. This becomes your Zas identity.
Start sending
Once signed in, your feed loads and you can send items immediately.
No recovery phrase
Zas does not use a recovery phrase. Your keys are tied to your Google sign-in. If you lose access to your Google account, you lose access to your Zas account. Keep your Google account secure.
The WhatsApp Web QR problem
Signing in on a machine you do not own, like a print-shop computer, exposes your full account. Zas solves this with anonymous sessions. On an untrusted machine, choose Continue without account instead. Your items stay portable by QR, and you can convert the session to your account later without re-uploading anything.
Only sign in on devices you trust. On public or borrowed machines, use an anonymous session.
