# Frequently Asked Questions About Zas

> Answers to common questions about Zas. Expired items, encryption, device requirements, apps, recovery, and pricing.

Find answers to the most common questions about how Zas works, what it protects, and what you can expect.

<Accordion title="Can I get an expired item back?">
  No. Once an item reaches its expiry, it is deleted permanently. Zas never sells storage, retention, or recovery. This is by design: your files are just passing through.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Is it end-to-end encrypted?">
  We do not use that phrase. Zas encrypts everything at all times. Nobody reads what you send. No list exists of who has what. The server never sees file hashes because of OPRF blind key derivation. Your content is encrypted on your device before any upload, and only you hold the decryption key.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Do I need Zas on both devices?">
  No. Zas runs in the browser with zero install. Open [zas.web](https://zas.web) on any device and sign in, or use an anonymous session if you are on a machine you do not own. The native Android app is available for deeper integration, but it is not required.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Are there Windows or Mac apps?">
  Zas is a browser-based PWA (Progressive Web App) that works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and any modern browser. There is also a native Android app with full parity. An iOS share extension is planned but not yet built.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Is there a recovery phrase?">
  No. Zas uses Google sign-in only. Your keys derive from your sign-in via OPRF. There is no recovery phrase to store or lose. Keep your Google account secure.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Is there per-GB pricing?">
  No. Zas pricing is per seat with unlimited devices. You pay for a wider corridor, never for capacity or retention. There is no per-GB charge at any tier.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="What happens to my data if I delete my account?">
  Everything in transit is removed immediately. Items you sent to shared channels may remain visible to other members until they expire naturally. Public share links stop working right away. There is no recovery.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Can I use Zas without a Google account?">
  Yes, through anonymous sessions. You get 30 MB in transit and 2-day expiry. Your session URL is your credential. When you are ready, sign in with Google to convert the session to a permanent account without re-uploading anything.
</Accordion>
